City of South Pasadena

The City of South Pasadena is a city in California that is known for its small-town atmosphere and rich legacy. It contains many historic sites, including the headquarters for General Flores and his staff in 1847 where they surrendered to American forces, ending Mexican Colonial rule in California.

The State of California issued an executive order to reduce the amount of solid waste going into the landfills. The order includes using products containing recycled content when available for projects located in California. Following this mandate, the South Pasadena Dog Park started looking for an environmentally-friendly solution that included recycled content. They also needed to find a fencing system that would have a rustic aesthetic look and feel.

Bedford Technology’s recycled plastic lumber was the right solution for the fencing system. FiberForce® met the project requirements of using recycled content to help reduce landfill waste and the stone design finish provided a beautiful rustic aesthetic.

The fence in the South Pasadena Dog Park is a great aesthetic addition and the material is performing better than expected. It is a low-maintenance and environmentally-friendly material that will be used in the future. The Park plans to continue to use recycled plastic lumber for more projects that will start in the Spring of 2019.
