The Lassen Volcanic National Park is open to the public and can be visited through the Bumpass Hell Trail. This 3-mile stretch that takes visitors through 16-acres of hydrothermal areas to discover and experience active volcanic areas. An environmental assessment was conducted in March 2018, and results concluded that action needed to be taken to improve the boardwalk to make it safe for visitor access and preserve the natural and historic resources and wilderness.
