An application that started as a “Why Not?” concept, really began to take off mid-way through 2015, as we were researching new markets for Bedford Technology. Through this brainstorming of other high impact markets and studying the markets current methods and alternatives we developed a strategy to break into this vineyard or ag post market. We then began reaching out within that market with emails & phone calls, asking what are some of the areas of concern and where could we fit in and make things easier and more sustainable within this market?
We began with exploring a few tradeshows to get some response and interaction with actual customers in the vineyard markets. The first show was the 2015 VitiNord conference, which is an international conference focused on cold climate vineyards. Next, we visited the 2015 Great Lakes Expo in Grand Rapids, MI. This was easily 10 times the show in Nebraska, however, it had much more of an Agricultural focus, all fruit and vegetable farmers throughout the Midwest. Every event with which we have attended, we have gathered more information and knowledge, discovering how much interest there truly is for a recycled, sustainable option for Bedford Technology products within the Ag market. We are scheduled to attend three more tradeshows within January and February 2016, and we will continue to gather information, listening to what the vintners are telling us and moving further and stronger into the vineyard-ag post market this Spring.
There really is no limit to the possibilities of using Bedford Technology’s recycled HDPE plastic lumber (in most applications) to replace wood, concrete or other alternative materials in the market. In many cases, we have a superior product, FIBERFORCE® Plastic Lumber that looks great is long lasting and resistant to: rotting, splintering, water damage, termites (pests), etc. FIBERFORCE® plastic lumber also doesn’t require painting and is very low maintenance (compared with traditional wood.) Bedford Technology’s FIBERFORCE® Hard Tool product is a high quality, carpenter friendly product that can be drilled, sawn, cut, routed and worked just as wood lumber and comes in a variety of colors, making it more useful in agricultural uses, commercial playground equipment, park and recreation applications, signage, boardwalks, piers, landscaping boards and any harsh weather environment applications. With all this information, we continue to ask the question…Why Not Plastic lumber?
Bedford Technology’s FIBERFORCE® recycled HDPE plastic lumber serves as a replacement to traditional parts made from injection molding, rotational molding, vacuum forming, aluminum extrusion, lumber profiles and wood profiles. Bedford Technology can also design a plastic lumber product to suit your specific application, including custom molded products (ie: pipe supports, bench frame shapes, lids).
